The breed appeared in the 19th century in England with the main purpose to accompany hunters and fetch game both from water and land. Reputable breeders have long waiting lists for the upcoming litters and it usually takes much time to buy a purebred dog. A puppy can be taken to a new home at the age of 7-8 weeks, after it’s given immunizing shots and the basics of canine socialization. Older pups may have problems with adaptation. Pet quality puppies are sold already spayed or neutered. If there are several litters in the kennel, the buyers can compare puppies, pedigrees and parents, and choose the most suited animal, but usually, there are only a few puppies available for sale.
