These dogs are extremely versatile; originally bred for hunting, they make good family companions and champions in different kinds of competitions. The dogs of this breed are 21-24 inches high and weigh 55-75 pounds; males are larger than females. Their body is well balanced, with a deep chest and long, but not barrel-shaped ribs. The head is broad and slightly arched, with a straight muzzle.
