Golden Retrievers Rescues Breeders - History
Golden Retrievers originated in the British Isles as a cross of several breeds. Light-coated Tweed Water Spaniels, other spaniels, yellow Flat-Coated Retrievers, some Setters, the Newfoundland and possibly the Bloodhound are the ancestors of Golden Retrievers.

The main aim of the breed was hunting birds and small game on both land and in the water. This breed is known for its wonderful nose and can be used for narcotic detection, for tracking and for rescuing people. Today, these dogs are widely used as guides for the blind, service dogs for the disabled and therapy animals. It is one of the most popular pets in the USA.
Golden Retrievers Rescues Breeders - Description
This breed is classified as a Gun Dog and the AKC registers it in the Sporting group. Golden Retrievers should be beautiful, well proportioned animals with broad tapering head, powerful muzzle, broad chest, muscular body, neck and legs. The tail is long, but not curled. The nose should be black; the eyes are usually brown with dark rims; the pendant ears are medium in size.
The hallmark of the breed is its dense coat of medium length. It should be of golden shade, from cream to dark, but should not be red. The coat protects the dog from cold and hot weather and even repels water allowing the Golden Retriever to swim in cold water.
Golden Retrievers Rescues Breeders - Temperament
Golden Retrievers are very popular due to their intelligence, communicative nature and great charm. They are easy to train and can be taught various tricks. These creatures are very devoted to the owner and are always ready to please, which makes the breed an outstanding family dog. The breed is loyal to small children and can be trusted with smaller pets. You should not leave such dogs alone for a long time; otherwise they may become irritable, over-exuberant, nervous or bored.
These dogs are good at engaging in various types of competitions, such as obedience, agility, conformation, tracking, and hunting. Other talents of Golden Retrievers include retrieving, drugs detection, performing tricks, serving the disabled and just being a devoted family companion.
